There’s a temptation to think that St Anne’s Sixth Form is like staying in school: highly qualified teachers, pastoral care focusing on individuals, that extends into our small classes and timetabled personal development.
But there’s so much more.
Results match the highest regional standards and our students thrive in this vibrant, caring, supportive learning community, often achieving far more than they thought they could.
If you want to add measured value and unmeasured sparkle to your achievements so far, come and join us!
Julian Waterfield, Headteacher
“Choosing St Anne’s because of the warm, welcoming environment and the strong sense of community was a choice that supported me from the very beginning.”
Farhanah, Head Girl
We offer something that is a bit different to other post-16 providers in the area.
We are a small mixed sixth form offering small classes and a great deal of one-to-one attention. As part of an 11-18 school, our college is small in comparison to other local colleges and we concentrate mainly on academic A-levels.
Our learners come from all over the world, giving us a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community which we celebrate whole-heartedly in the spirit of our Catholic identity.
10 reasons to choose St Anne’s
1
We will know you as an individual
Everyone has different needs and by knowing you we can support you much more effectively.
2
Friendly community and supportive peers
You will know everyone in your sixth form leading to friendships that may well last a lifetime. Your friends will be good influences on you. St Anne’s provides an academic sixth form and those who attend tend to be hard-working and aspirational – their influence will rub off on you!
3
Small classes
The average A-Level class has around 10 students. This means more guidance for you.
4
Support for university applications and extra guidance
Around 90% of our upper sixth go on to university. The tutors are very experienced in supporting applications to university giving you lots of guidance. For applicants to Oxbridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary science there is a designated mentor to support with the application, admissions tests and interviews.
5
Regular contact with a tutor
You will see your tutor at least 3 mornings a week and will form a good bond with them over two years. They will know you as an individual; vital for writing a good reference for university or employment.
6
Sixth Form accommodation and common rooms
Our sixth form centre provides a dedicated space for study and lessons for sixth form students.
You have your own social area for both study and socialising.
7
Centrally located in Southampton
Being near the city centre, we are near a range of transport links, high class shopping areas, cafes and a wide selection of food outlets.

Teachers are experienced in teaching both sixth form and lower down in the school
This allows them a good understanding of how to foster progression between GCSEs and A-levels. In post-16 colleges the teachers may not always have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). They do here.
9
Positions of responsibility
Our sixth form students can take leadership roles across the school, forming part of the school’s lively and enriching community. We send leaders out into the world.
10
Financial support
If you live 5 miles or further from St Anne’s you may apply for support for your daily travel (public transport only). We may also be able to support students undergoing financial hardship with resources. A maximum of £750 per annum will be awarded per student.
