Thinking Globally, Acting Creatively: Sixth Form Inspires at St Mark's Church Enrichment Day

22nd Jan 2026

Sixth Form students recently swapped their usual timetable for an inspiring and thought-provoking Curriculum Enrichment Day at St Mark's Church — and what a day it was.

Designed to stretch minds beyond exam specifications, the day challenged students to grapple with some of the most pressing global issues of our time. Through interactive sessions and discussion, they explored the causes and consequences of debt in developing nations, unpicking how historical decisions, global financial systems, and international inequalities continue to shape the lives of millions today. Students were encouraged not just to learn the facts, but to question, debate and reflect — considering fairness, responsibility, and the role wealthier nations play in shaping the wider world.

A standout moment came in the form of a lively “Taskmaster”-style creative challenge. Working in tutor teams, students produced short films showcasing the interconnectedness of St Anne’s College and the wider community. The results were imaginative, humorous and deeply perceptive, highlighting the visible — and invisible — ties that link our school to local, national and global communities. It was collaboration, creativity and critical thinking in action.

More than just a day off timetable, the Enrichment Day exemplified what makes our Sixth Form distinctive. Students were given the space to think independently, engage with complex global themes, and express their ideas with confidence and originality. It was a powerful reminder that Sixth Form here is not only about academic success — it is about developing informed, compassionate and globally aware young adults ready to make their mark on the world.

This is Sixth Form at its best: ambitious, outward-looking and connected.
